One toxic exposure in pregnancy linked to disease risk across 20 generations, shocking rat study finds

A new study from Washington State University reports that a single pregnancy exposure to a toxic fungicide can raise disease risk for 20 generations. Published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the research indicates that epigenetic changes in reproductive cells allow health concerns to be inherited long after the original exposure. While early generations featured consistent disease rates, later generations experienced more severe complications, including birth abnormalities.
